Electronics devices manufacturers such as Sony corporation offer unique quality of various television sets, music systems, and laptops and computers that appeal the customers; hence, with the effective update in technology, management style, the market plan strategies towards existing competition and the corporate goals ensures that the organization is successful and distinguish the company from other similar competitive companies. The process of determining a market structure comprises the research on the rival companies by efficiently exploring their differences and relationships. The features of the market structure affect the routine of the business in the specific market, which has to be appealing to the customerââ¬â¢s needs. There are different market structures used by various organizations, which are based on the number of business participants in the ind ustry and the extent of market control of the involved participants. The market structures include monopolistic competition, perfect competition, and oligopoly and monopoly market structures (O'Connor, 2004). The choice of the market structures in an organization depends on the different characteristics of each type as explained below. The products produced by each of the business are similar to each other; hence, this gives the sellers and buyers the full liberty of joining or leaving the organization options.... The products produced by each of the business are similar to each other; hence, this gives the sellers and buyers the full liberty of joining or leaving the organization. In addition, the buyers and sellers are aware of the prices and technology in use despite the product being produced by a number of companies. Practically, perfect competition does not exist but only forms a benchmark used in the analysis of the real world market structures. The equalization of price and marginal cost through the exchange of quantity goods contributes to efficient allocation of resources (O'Connor, 2004). Monopoly Market Structure Monopoly market structure has a single seller and competitor, who control the supply side of the market. The product sold is unique with no similar substitutes. The demand of the monopoly product translates directly to the market demand hence the need of government regulation because of the insufficiency on market selling side. Monopolistic Competition The feature that dis tinguishes monopolistic market structure from others is the fact that it has a large number of relatively small competitors with each having a modest degree to control the market on the supply side. The products in the market are close for each firm but are not identical in terms of the production technology involved. Consequently, this structure diversifies the needs of the consumer. Oligopoly Market Structure A small number of comparatively large competitors with each having a considerable market control characterize the oligopoly market structure. Sellers under oligopoly have interdependent decision-making leading to high competition, which necessities the cooperation through collusion and mergers. The

The reality of arms trade compared to its depiction in popular Essay
The reality of arms trade compared to its depiction in popular Hollywood Movie - Essay Example Arms Trade has impeded the prosperity of this world and its negative effects are just increasing as it has become a nuisance for the well-being of the people. The global arms industry comprises of various governments and individual commercial companies who manufacture and sell weapons and other advanced form of military technology and equipment. This industry has grown in both volume and its reach. Now more and more developing countries are being served by these arms producing entities. A huge sum of cash is being spent on research, development, manufacture and supply of military equipment to the developing world. These defense contractors produce guns, ammunition, military aircraft, missile and other defense related equipment. Experts estimate that nearly 1.5 trillion dollars are wasted on the various military expenditures worldwide. Although the percentage has come down from 4% in 1990 to 2.7% at present, the volume has increased significantly and the sale has been focused more towa rds the economically deprived countries. (Shah, World Military Spending) These countries lack enough funds to provide for the well-being of its people but somehow they manage to spend a substantial amount of their GDP on defense budgets. The movie Lord of War does portray a true picture of the global arms industry existing in the world. Nevertheless, it can be argued that the degree of its reality is different since these things are hidden from the general public. The incidents depicted in this movie clearly highlight how in real life certain factors push one to pursue the worst of jobs. The life story of Yuri portrays him as a person caught up in a situation where he has to deal in arms trade in order to give others a chance to protect themselves. His initial intention is to provide the people with a necessity of life, but later on he turns into an arms dealer who builds contacts and uses his networks to sell arms and ammunition without caring for the lives of others. The way the t rade has been shown, where force and power has been used to get hold of weapons, is a true picture of reality. Arms trade is one of the deadliest causes of chaos in the world. It not only allows military dictators to rule ruthlessly over the population but also gives them the power to continue their suppression and oppression over the suffering population. The deal that is struck between the arms lord and the dealer is usually of millions of dollars and both parties are completely unresponsive to the effects such transactions would have over the future of their nations. The use of such arms is highly questionable; on one end these deals are struck to protect the people from the ruthless rule of their dictators, and on the other it is seen as a source of strengthening the grip of evil doers over the sufferers. For instance, the movie story shows that it was apparent that the deal between the African military ruler and the arms dealer would bring about a massacre of nearby villages an d loss of thousands of lives, but still the deal was carried out. It is likely that the dealer is rarely concerned about the interests of the people who will suffer as a result of these weapon deals. It has been debated also depicted in the movie that after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, thousands of AK-47 and other Russian weaponry flowed into the hands of arms dealers. Since it was lying idle in warehouses and military depots, Russian military generals illegally sold them to arms dealers around the globe in order to make their personal gains. This surely resulted in the availability of one of the best assault rifles of all times and was soon seen in the hands of mobsters and warlords on all continents. It is astonishing to know that around 76% of worldââ¬â¢s total expenditure is accounted on defense budgets. This amounts to a humungous $1.22 trillion, out of which 42.8% comes from the United States. (Sipri, Recent trends in military expenditure) This reveals that no matter what

Good Governance Essay
Good Governance has 8 major characteristics. It is participatory, consensus oriented, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective and efficient, equitable and inclusive and follows the rule of law. It assures that corruption is minimized, the views of minorities are taken into account and that the voices of the most vulnerable in society are heard in decision-making. It is also responsive to the present and future needs of society. But there is one characteristic I like most, it is the Accountability. Accountability is a key requirement of good governance. Not only governmental institutions but also the private sector and civil society organizations must be accountable to the public and to their institutional stakeholders. Who is accountable to who varies depending on whether decisions or actions taken are internal or external to an organization or institution. In general an organization or an institution is accountable to those who will be affected by its decisions or actions. Accountability cannot be enforced without transparency and the rule of law. Maybe some of you will ask why is accountability important to Governance? It is because it evaluates the ongoing effectiveness of public officials or public bodies ensures that they are performing to their full potential, providing value for money in the provision of public services, instilling confidence in the government and being responsive to the community they are meant to be serving. Being accountable is also being liable, responsible for every person that affects your decision. For example, me as a Student leader we are here to serve students, to fight for their rights. Therefore, we must consider first the sake of the students before we make a decision. Because when we took our positions there is a corresponding responsibility that we must face. Reproductive Health Bill informally known as the RH Bill, are proposed laws in the Republic of the Philippines aiming to guarantee universal access to methods of contraception, fertility control, sexual education, and maternal care. For sure you are wondering why this issue is in this essay, well I believe this issue is related on being accountable. Why? Did government even consider that our country is well known to be a religious country? That, in every time they use those contraceptives they are actually killing an innocent life? They always say that this is the only way to surpass, lessen poverty. But itââ¬â¢s actually wrong, do they consider the effect of this or should I say to they consider themselves accountable/liable for this? Corruption is definitely one of the problems seen by the citizen and the government as well. There have been lots of controversies relative to government officials being involved with money issues. The thing is that even though there are hearings and investigations, the truth never seems to come outââ¬âwhether itââ¬â¢s positive or negative news. Poverty and employment would also be among the problems. There are more people that are going hungry. Government and Us are all accountable to it. Why? We as a citizen we can make a living among ourselves because at the end of the day we are still the driver of our own life. But, as a citizen we voted those who are on the position now because we believe that they will minimize our burdens. At the point that we elect them they are already accountable. But after they got what they want all their promises turn to trash. They do things without even considering us. In the end, nothings happen. Accountability or being accountable can be achieved by putting and doing all our jobs in our hearts. Yes, itââ¬â¢s hard but we chose to be in this place all we need to do is face it effectively and do the best we can for the better. Donââ¬â¢t be scared to commit mistakes because those are our experiences and lesson learned. Remember, think first before you make a decision.

Identifying Community Resources for Mental Health Essay
Firstly regarding my client that has agreed to substance abuse treatment for 30 days I discovered through research that the following programs would be recommended: The Orchard Recovery and Addiction Treatment Center located at 811 Grafton Road, Bowen Island, BC V0N 1G2 and available at http://www.orchardrecovery.com/. Provides ââ¬Å"Detox, Primary Care (10-, 28- and 42-day residential treatment), Sober Living (three to 12 months of second-stage residential treatment) and ongoing Alumni Services and Aftercare programsâ⬠for men and women suffering from addicition. Also another available treatment option is LDR Holistic Addiction Wellness Centre located at 5724 Glover Rd, Langley, BC V3A 4H8and available at http://www.holisticdrugrehab.org/provides drug rehab for men only centers and rehab treatment for women only. After treatment the recommendation would be follow u support groups such as AA. This resource is funded by Alcoholics Anonymous by The Greater Vancouver Intergroup Society located at 3457 Kingsway Vancouver, B.C., V5R 5L5 and meeting times are located at on the internet at http://www.vancouveraa.ca/index.php?option=com_meetings&Itemid=37&task=show. Either treatment facility and aftercare with AA would be a good treatment option because it addressââ¬â¢s the clients need for substance abuse treatment and is paid for by Canadian health insurance, so there is minimal out of pocket cost to the client. It is essential to have aftercare to be successful which is why AA is appropriate. Regarding my clientââ¬â¢s mother that was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. The following hospice programs would be recommended: Victoria Hospice Society located at 1952 Bay Street, Victoria, BC V8R 1J8 and reachable at http://www.victoriahospice.org/welcome-victoria-hospice. Care is offered in patientsââ¬â¢ homes, within their 17-bed in-patient unit, and as specific medic al consultation to patients in other health care facilities. Clientele includes people that are living with a progressive, life-threatening illness. They must live in an area of Greater Victoria served by Victoria Hospice. They must have a family physician and the physician agrees with registration. Their goal of care is palliative and comfort-oriented, rather than curative treatments. They reside in their own home or in an Assisted Living facility once accepted into the program. Another hospice program is at Laurel Place located at 9688 137A St, Surrey, BC V3T 4H9 http://www.surreyhospice.com/counselling/hospice-palliative-care. They offer Hospice palliative care for anyone facing a life-threatening illness and they provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care and support for individuals and their loved ones at home, in hospitals, in nursing homes or in special hospice facilities. Regarding my client who disclosed in counseling that she was a victim of childhood sexual abuse. I would recommend Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse located at 2420 Mary Hill Road, Port Coquitlam, B.C., and V3C. They provide support and therapy with trained facilitators for women who have experienced sexual abuse as children. This is appropriate for my client to be involved in group therapy to begin her process of recovery while feeling connected and supported by a group of other survivors. | Resources: Surrey Hospice Resource Center. The Life Of Sarah And Hagar, Or Jezebel And Rahab Today
How does one read the story of Sarah and Hagar, or Jezebel and Rahab today, if one is a woman reader situated in a postcolonial society? This question animates Judith E. McKinlayââ¬â¢s Reframing Her: Biblical Women in Postcolonial Focus. In this text, McKinlay takes different biblical womenââ¬â¢s narrative and gives them agency. McKinaly opens this text from both with a feminist hermeneutic and a postcolonial criticism that helps to shape the context and location for the women she will explore and also her own personal context. One of the things I most appreciated about the opening us this book is the location in which she situates herself. She is a New Zealander, a Pakeha, which is described by the people of Maori, for people who are not Maori. Her narrative becomes critical in how she shapes these biblical women who are considered outsiders from those within. Location and identity politics becomes a critical theme within this text. I can remember Historian Vincent Harding who would open his class asking everyone to identify who they were and where they were from. At the time, I never understood why that was necessarily, but as a historian, I understand to know who we are and where we are from shapes our context. This text was helpful in helping me to understand how to relate to different people with different biblical understandings. In this text, McKinlay critically reflects within her culture (New Zealand) and how they come to understand Christianity and their interpretation

Essay on Public School Health Care - 558 Words
The public school system offers several different types of health care services to students concerning issues that are a problem in 21st century schools. Two of the top concerns in public school health care concern the on topics of reproduction and obesity. With over 50 million students attending public schools, it is important to recognize and understand that school systems have a responsibility to provide health care education and services that will educate and hopefully improve the health of all students. One of the reasons for obesity is due to the fact that we eat fast food, on average, at least once a day, and students who have the privilege to leave campus for lunch are at a greater risk because they tend choose unhealthier food. We choose to eat fast food because of its convenience and low cost. Another reason for obesity is because student does not receive the proper amount of physical activity they need in a day. On average, a student should be getting one hour of physical activity a day which can be as easy as attending a P.E. class. According to healthinschools.org, one-third of children between the ages of 6-19 are at risk to being overweight. Obesity can lead to health problems such as asthma, type II diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This website also states that around 85 percent of parents surveyed say that they support programs such as P.E. to help reduce the chances of obesity. One additional thing schools are doing to stop obesity is providing students with a healthy breakfast and nutritional lunch. The second major health care issue that schools face when educating students about reproductive is sues.
